WHY A BREAST LIFT?
When the breasts become smaller after pregnancy due to severe weight loss, it may happen that the skin is not elastic enough to adapt to the reduced volume. The breasts are then 'too loose in the skin' and start to sag. Age also affects the shape of the breasts, after the age of thirty the skin starts to sag. This is a natural process. By surgically removing the excess skin and at the same time reshaping the mammary gland, a firmer breast is created. If desired, this procedure can be combined with a breast enlargement, in which internal prostheses are placed in the breasts.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR TREATMENT?
First of all, you must be fully grown. If your breasts are very sagging and you are satisfied with the volume, a breast lift may be a good solution. If you find the volume too small, a breast enlargement with lift may be an option for you. Together we will discuss which procedure can give you the best result. In addition, it is important for your own health and to limit the risks that you do not smoke for at least 6 weeks before and 4 weeks after the procedure and that your body length and weight ratio (BMI) is not above 30.
WHAT ARE THE POSSIBILITIES?
With a breast lift, the excess skin is removed and the glandular tissue is adjusted. This does not change the cup size (except when prostheses are also inserted), because only skin is removed. If there is an existing difference in size between the left and right breast, this can be corrected immediately: from the largest breast, in addition to skin, a piece of breast tissue is also removed. With a breast lift, no correction is made of the excess tissue that in some women runs from the armpit to the back.
