Suffering from couperosis (red blood vessels)?
Red blood vessels on the face are also known as couperosis. Couperose shows an increase in the small, superficial vessels in the skin. These vessels are widened and weakened, making them more visible. The veins are predominantly visible on the nose and the cheeks, but can also occur elsewhere. In many cases, couperosis occurs spontaneously, but sunlight, smoking, genetics, chilly wind, or fierce cold can be a trigger. When the skin is thinner and lighter, the vessels are more noticeable.
What causes these red blood vessels?
The vessels can be caused by genetics, sun damage, and smoking. Due to the damage from the sun and smoking, the superficial vessels become weaker and wider. Usually, the vessels arise spontaneously and do not go away by themselves. The skin condition is harmless, but many people experience it as cosmetically disturbing.
If you suffer from dilated vessels, pimples, and a lot of redness on the face, you may suffer from rosacea. With rosacea, the redness can be made worse by alcohol, spicy food, or by changing from a cold to a warm room. Lasering the vessels can provide relief from the complaints. The laser treatments are wonderful in combination with fruit acid peels. The fruit acid peels reduce blemishes. The combination of the laser and the fruit acid peels will smooth out the skin and will reduce blemishes as well as redness.
The KTP laser can minimize/remove pigmentation spots within 3 to 5 treatments. During the treatment, the bundled light from the KTP laser in the skin is converted into energy. This energy results in the destruction of the pigmentation in the skin. After the treatment, the pigmentation spots will first turn a darker color. The body needs time to clear up the pigmentation. In the first couple of days, the pigmentation will start to flake. Directly after the treatment, the skin will be a little red. After one day, the redness will diminish. You can cool the skin with an ice pack.
